The intake manifold is more than just a way of getting fuel & air into your engine. So many guys go to extensive lengths with engine crankshaft & rotating assemblies to get the best percentage of counter balance for a high reving engine for peak performance. The other area that you can spend thousands of dollars on is the cylinder head. Larger volume runners,offset rockers, different valve angles, combustion chamber shapes & sizes, large valve head diameters, valve seat angles & materials the list goes on.Many hours can be spent reshaping ports to get volumes higher & all ports flowing the same amount. Over recent years there has been a lot more thought on velocity rather than just volume, sure you need volume but velocity plays just as important role as it plays a very important role with what you feel under your foot.The key to a good engine is combination & a good balance of matched components from ignition systems, carb, exhaust, camshaft, cylinder head, inlet manifold, transmission & stall converter, diff gears.
The AussieSpeed Slant 6 Hurricane performance intake manifold is available in 3 configurations. The AS0023 suits 170 & 225 Slant 6 performance engines using headers, Holley 350 2 barrel carb & free flowing exhaust system. The manifold will perform very well when used to replace stock cast iron 1v & 2V carter carburettors. The AS0024 4v intake manifold is suited to 170 & 225 SL6 engines from mild to wild. Its even length long runners produce torque over a very wide powerband.The intake manifold will accept Holley vacuum secondary & double pumper squarebore cars along with carter & the Edelbrock range of carbs. The overall width of the manifold from head flanges to carb pad outer edge is 15 1/2 inches or 395mm. port section 35mm is high & 27mm wide. This well balanced Australian designed & manufactured performance manifold delivers true horsepower out of the box.The AS0225 supercharger manifold will accept both radial & axial superchargers & was designed to accept the Australian manufactured Terra Charger. The Terra charger has a displacement of 1.5 litre displacment that can deliver enough air to produce a healthy 450 HP, the Yella Terra Charger can be spun to over 20,000 RPM its Teflon coated roots type rotors have a 3/4 twist & runs such tight tolarences it doesnt require seals. The manifold has a large plenum volume, backfire valve preset at 40 PSI to help stop damage in case of engine backfires. The manifold has been used with the B&M 144 radial style supercharger also. |
